Meet Mark

Mark McKenney grew up in the Buttonwoods neighborhood of Warwick, and still lives there today. He and his wife Tricia are the proud parents of Caitlin, Cara, and Dan.

Mark served in the Rhode Island State Senate from 2019-2020, and is running for office again to help drive positive change for his neighbors in District 30 and beyond.

Mark attended Boston College, Catholic University Law School, and the University of Kent in Canterbury, England and is now an attorney and small business owner at McKenney, Clarkin, & Estey.

During his time as as a State Senator, Mark served as Secretary of the Senate Committee on Rules, Government Ethics, & Oversight, as a member of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, and as a member of the Senate Committee on Special Legislation & Veterans’ Affairs.

In addition serving at the State House, Mark has held a variety of leadership positions over the years, including:

  • President, Literacy Volunteers of Rhode Island

  • President, Providence Community Library

  • President, Buttonwoods Beach Association

  • Chair, Rhode Island State Library Board

  • Chair, Buttonwoods Fire District Board of Supervisors

  • Vice-Chair, City of Warwick Zoning Board

  • Moderator, Buttonwoods Fire District

  • Moderator, City of Warwick - Airport Town Meetings

One of Mark’s proudest professional accomplishments is the key role he played in bringing together the business community, insurance companies, and labor leaders during the successful overhaul and reform of Rhode Island’s embattled workers’ compensation system.

Mark has proven time and again that he is willing to listen, and bring folks together to work towards common goals. He will bring that same productive, reasonable approach back to the State House to move Rhode Island forward.
