This legislation would authorize approximately $32.6 million in funding for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority to maintain service levels, hire and train additional bus operators, and support implementation of state climate goals. The funding is intended to address operational needs and prevent service reductions in public transportation.

This legislation legislation which guaranteed an exemption from property taxes for the spouses of firefighters and polices officers if they are killed in the line of duty. These families sacrifice so much to keep us safe, and if the ultimate price is paid, we have a responsibility to care for them in any way possible.

Sen. McKenney supported legislation that created a small besiness development fund, designed to encourage the formation of private capital investment in small business across RI.

The 2019 budget included legislation sponsored by Sen. McKenney and then Majority Leader Shekarchi designed to help small business owners avoid double taxation by shifting tax liability from business owners to the businesses themselves, thereby helping to level the playing field with big business. The legislation helped to offset the effect of the Trump administration's $10,000 limit on an individual's state & local tax (SALT) deductions.
